Defining The Memere Gene

What Is The Memere Gene?

Take this short quiz to find out if you have the Memere Gene:
     1. Have you purchased craft supplies that you haven't touched in more than a year? (For example, that jewelry-making kit that you abandoned after the first class or the scrapbook that stops somewhere between your first child's birth and her first birthday.)
     2. Have you ever watched someone else do a craft project and thought  "oh, I can do that!" But then you never, in fact, did that?
     3. In the last six months, have you spent more money on craft supplies and manuals (including magazines) than you have on health insurance?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you probably lack the Memere Gene. The Memere gene is the voice in your head that says, "oh, I can do that!" For the most part, you are wrong. But you keep flipping through the DIY magazines in the check-out lane, keep frequenting Michael's, JoAnn's, and A.C. Moore, keep perusing the scrapbooking aisles at Target.

The Memere Gene is that thing that Martha Stewart has, that you lack. No, not money. Talent. Crafty, crafty talent, with a sweet dose of creativity and ingenuity tossed in.
